Noah awoke in a casket.
The casket was on display in a funeral parlor.
He awoke several times more in the same casket and each time had a conversation with the funeral services practitioner, a strange man named Jeremy Black.
During these exchanges, he became aware that his memory was seriously impaired.
Each time, however, he learned a little bit more about his past through a reliving of the last desperate few days.
He also learned that the recovery of his memory would lead to his death.
Problem was It might already be too late.

John Brinling, Coffin Humor (Amazon Digital Services, no date given)My first exposure to John Brinling. And, honestly, had I not downloaded a couple of other things at the same time (viz. review of the much-superior A Memorable Weekend elsewhere this ish), it probably would have been my last. My best guess is that this is meant to be a kind of sci-fi/mystery hybrid, and I think in the hands of someone with a bit more experience trying to pull that thing off, it might well have been a cracking little story. This, on the other hand, is barely coherent. My rating comes from looking at what could have been instead of what is. **

Coffin Humor A Short Story eBook John Brinling Reviews
I didn't know what to expect. From the description, it sounded interesting, so I downloaded it. Can't go wrong with a free download. I was pleased with the story. I am one who thinks authors can make their point without using profanity, so I was pleased that there wasn't any in this book. It was well written and had several nice twists.
I was looking for a short, funny, maybe little confusing story**.. lots of twists and turns that I didn't see coming... great book.
(**a story that I didn't see the ending right off the bat)
I was hooked from the beginning and hated to see this one end. I've been reading lots of short stories lately due to being busy and this one is near the top of the list. The author does a great job of creating these two characters and does manage a great twist at the end. Invest a few minutes and enjoy!
These short stories were .not particularly entertaining. The book was neither funny nor exciting. I would not read this author anymore.
I think you have to read this book twice just so you can go back and realize exactly what was going on. It was a good story with a nice twist at the end. It was really short so reading it twice is not a big deal.
I don't get the humor in this book. I did not even smile while reading this book. I gave it 2 stars because maybe it is just not my sense of humor. But no, I did not like this story or think it was well written. Sorry.
This is an intriguing short story that quickly captures your attention and conjures up lots of questions that you can't wait to find the answers to. The characters are distinctive, curious and maybe even a little creepy. It is their dialog that tells the story and you never can quite decide whose reality to believe. Just how did Noah get in the coffin in the first place? Why isn't Jeremy freaking out? Is there going to be a little paranormal trick in here? It is a humorous little mystery that keeps you smiling as much as it keeps you guessing. Even with the many twists in the plot, the flow of the story was smooth and easy to follow. Just when you think you have it figured out - you'll be surprised again. It is a quick and entertaining read without a dull moment.
